Chapter 1
Chapter 1
It is wrong for us to exclude the first 200,000 years of human existence. As archeaology shows, during this time, this period of time was the first of human societies. Tools were made from stone in which humans in this time were able to use for hunting and gathering.
Homosapiens first emerged in southern and eastern africa and would settle there for roughly 150000 years. Once they began using stone tools, new forms of obtaining noureshment began. Homo sapiens began hunting/fishing and not only just gathering during this time period.
Humans began migrating into eurasia and australia with the use of boats. This comes to show that during the paleolithic era, the technological advances began what makes us into the dominant species today.
Population within these paleolitithic societies consisted of aproximatley 20-25 people. Their relationships were strong. The techlogy at the time only allowed for this amount of people in a population. The relationships between men and women were far more equal than in later societies. Women provided 70 % of the noureshment through gathering while, men would hunt and make up for the 30 % of their diets.
The societies that made it into the twentyth centrury began creating an exchange.
It is hard to pin the thoughts of the paleolithic societies to the bones and stones that have been recovered as they dont project the thoughts. art, is subject to many interpretations as well. But the prescence of rock art is deeo inside these caves in which we could predict that they were ceremonial spaces. it is thought that no full time priest or religious leadears lead these cermonys but part time chamans.
